Disabled Students' Program
The Disabled Students' Program (DSP) is located at 100 Creekside Center. DSP promotes an inclusive environment for students with disabilities and equips disabled students with appropriate accommodations and services to achieve their individual academic goals. To determine the accommodations necessary to have equal access to participate in their academic programs, disabled students engage in an individualized interactive process with their assigned Disability Specialist to identify any barriers that may exist based on the impact of the student’s disability in the academic environment. Accommodations and auxiliary services that are needed to address the barriers are then identified and implemented. Examples of these accommodations and auxiliary services include provision of extended time on timed exams, alternative formats for course texts, technology to support independent note-taking, reduced-distraction exam settings, allowance for occasional disability-related absences, real-time course captioning, and classroom assistants for laboratory settings. The specific accommodations and services approved are individualized to each student's unique disability identity, experience, and program of study. If you have a disability or would like more information about DSP services and how to apply, please contact DSP via email (dsp@berkeley.edu) or phone (510-642-0518), or visit the Disabled Students’ Program website.
