Place, Community and Culture

The Summer Minor in Place, Community and Culture explores how social and spatial processes shape contemporary landscapes by offers students grounded, experiential training in place-based fieldwork, community engagement, and creative practice. Students choose from a suite of upper-division courses focused on place-based storytelling, visual communication, landscape analysis, cartography, GIS, and social and environmental justice. Through hands-on research, field-based methods, and creative geographic communication, students build practical skills, develop portfolio-ready work, and gain preparation for careers in community, cultural, environmental, and non-profit organizations.
